BAA Heathrow Terminal 5

Project Value: £ 3.0 million

Glentworth carried out the supply, erection and installation of four steel turrets complete with ventilation fans and staircases for the multi-storey car park.

These steel turrets weighed 100 tonne each and measured 9.5 m in diameter and 48m high.

They were constructed on the airfields apron and transported 1 mile across the site to be craned into position.

Glentworth supplied an interesting mixture of Architectural and general Metalwork to these 9 story office blocks on the banks of the river Thames at London Bridge.

Balustrade and handrails were supplied and fitted to all 11 floors on 7 escape stairs. The main entrance of plot 3 was of a glass and stainless steel design.

In addition Glentworth also supplied, installed and commissioned fire curtains, roller shutter doors, metal doors, louvers, grills and many other items of general metalwork.

Glentworth found this project one of the fastest and therefore most challenging contracts to-date. The scope of works included 200tonne of secondary support steelwork.

The removal of the two 80tonne moving platforms used during the construction programme. Glentworth also supplied and installed numerous metalwork items for example bridges,ladders, access platforms, loading bay protection and screens.
